It was an amazing day and we learnt a lot about toys from the past. It was fun to interact with some of the toys from the past. Some of them were nearly 100 years old, so we could only look at those.</p><p>We learnt that in the past, rich people could have porcelain dolls made in their likeness and even have that persons hair on the doll.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiU3WKR6-NJP2aTl92FB1mWJi7cSwEkiPUdsRizL9VqUtWEvWkSC1Zz20ZnhzbrM1eU9QUNa202gw4mz-Wr-PVb8YkVkGMQpcN5vjSw7y_1tCdgILEkBLbpZFdQTNW2DRjFHiT1K4bIVhw8pUsVv25zckaAbYTdhWj4oNx1yxmoAm5RgrHgipdWKFm/s4000/20221114_103122.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="4000" height="288" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiU3WKR6-NJP2aTl92FB1mWJi7cSwEkiPUdsRizL9VqUtWEvWkSC1Zz20ZnhzbrM1eU9QUNa202gw4mz-Wr-PVb8YkVkGMQpcN5vjSw7y_1tCdgILEkBLbpZFdQTNW2DRjFHiT1K4bIVhw8pUsVv25zckaAbYTdhWj4oNx1yxmoAm5RgrHgipdWKFm/w640-h288/20221114_103122.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">Toys like Sunny Jim were made out of material and you couldn't buy them. This is a fantastic opportunity for the tamariki to learn about the māra (garden) and skills in the kīhini (kitchen). Here is a video of the huarākau rōpu learning how to control a huripara (wheelbarrow).</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxAuesxZb6KNOieHMRoqMYDVK6CwwxWb5CIl2CR2mX1t5TSGiEinYKDeyk_crt6hLkxom7ndOlmPgm-6A52-g' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br /><p>It definitely isn't easy to control a huripara, especially when you have to go up or over a bump. Virginia put a bucket of water in to each huripara so that the tamariki could see how much water was left after everyone had a turn going through the obstacle course.</p><p style="text-align: center;">I will post some ngā pikitia (photos) of the mahi in the kīhini next week.</p>Ruma Rua tekau ma ruahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04508284848581889514noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1237408349944914090.post-7620399879392947722022-08-02T16:00:00.001+12:002022-08-02T16:00:42.564+12:00Our visit to Auckland Art Gallery- Toi o Tāmaki.<p> Today we visited the Auckland Art Gallery- Toi o Tāmaki.
