Samoan Language Week 2022

Everyday this week, Fay has been sharing her beautiful culture with us.

Yesterday she has taught us how to say colours in Samoan, we are still practising them.

We also learnt how to ask "What is your name"? in Samoan- "O ai lou igoa"?

To reply you would say "O lou igoa o............." you say your name at the end of that sentence.

Today Fay allowed us to see and touch some of her belongings such as Siapo cloth, earings, necklaces, bracelets etc.

Lots of the jewelry is made out of coconut shell and shells from the Island.

Wiki anana! Wow week!

This term our Pakirehua (Inquiry) is all about Pūtaiao (Science). We are striving to think like a scientist and learn kupu hou (new words) that relate to Pūtaiao. To begin our term, we are having a Wow week.

We will be doing a whakamātau (experiment) everyday. Yesterday we learnt about Mātai ahupūngao (Physics), by creating a catapult.
