Alexis Pritchard- Olympic Athlete and winner of a Bronze medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Kauri team was very privileged today to have Alexis Pritchard speak to us. She spoke to us about being COURAGEOUS and how boxing has encouraged her to be confident.

Solomone had to be extremely COURAGEOUS today as he spoke on behalf of our whole team. He spoke in front of 160 people today.                  Fa'afetai lava Solomone, for representing us so proudly!!!

Alexis encouraged us to 'Step out of our comfort zone' and try something new.

Image result for ako hikoBackground: Owairaka has been on a journey of incorporating digital resources into a range of teaching approaches.  We aim for a blended environment where staff and students have the option to choose the best resources for the learning at the time, whether it is digital or otherwise.

Ako Hiko: Is a cluster of eight schools who work together to create equity, raise achievement and offer opportunities to all our learners. The basis of the learning is the Learn, Create and Share learning model.

Research: The Woolf Fisher Trust, a research arm of the University of Auckland, send out these annual questionnaires to give feedback to the cluster about how the digital environment helps to learn.  Woolf Fisher collects data from Year 4-6 parents as some of the other cluster schools have digital devices for all ages. The feedback we get from this survey will be specific to Owairaka as well as from the whole cluster.

We would appreciate if you could do this quick survey by Friday 24th May.

Celebrate good times! A visit from Owairaka's very own- Fairy Judy

No matter how young or old, everyone is excited to see Fairy Judy. Ruma rua tekau ma rima was lucky enough to have her visit our room to acknowledge all of the students who filled in their Holiday reading logs. Thank you Fairy Judy for all that you do to encourage reading over the holiday break.
